For Oscar Fuentes, a.k.a. The Biscayne Poet, Miami has served as a beautiful, motivating inspiration. His love of jazz and poetry were intensified after a brief stint in New York but Miami with all of it’s passion, culture and mystery was the muse he needed to fully expand his art. He’s commonly seen at events with one of his 11 typewriters creating poems on the spot or performing beat poetry with latin jazz group, The Oscar Fuentes Combo. We talk about how he overcomes his vulnerabilities to courageously share his work, what’s the deal behind his signature look and why Miami’s culture is richer than we believe. We hope you enjoy the convo.
